Golfers finish regular season, prepare to host Conference

The Wolves Golf team finished up their regular season at the Pinedale Invitational last weekend.

"Rendezvous Meadows Golf Course was in excellent condition and really challenged our team," Assistant Coach Danielle Salas said. "Many of our golfers rose to the challenge."

On the boys' side, Sophomore Adam Robertson shot his personal best round of an 85 for a two-day total of 178. Robertson was only five strokes away from medalist honors. Junior Kaleb Gunter continued to impress and was in the top 10, medaling at 10th place. Other notable players include Senior Tyler Castillon, who rallied on day two and improved by 15 strokes, and Freshman Jason Mandros, who had a 10-stroke improvement.

On the girls' side, Junior Molly Stanton had a second-day resurgence and finished 12 strokes better than on day one. Sophomore Mylie Mele had a solid day one performance and is "always in the hunt," Coach Salas said.

Senior Isabell Salas finished out the regular season play with another victory, winning by 22 strokes. This meant Salas has officially gone undefeated in the regular season for the second consecutive year. She has also kept all her scores this season in the 60s and 70s, breaking the all-time GRHS Girls Golf record, Coach Salas explained.

This week GRHS Golf is set to host the 3A West Conference Championship at Rolling Green Country Club.

"We are excited to see if our team can carry their momentum to their home course!" Coach Salas said.
