Boys earn convincing win over Natrona

The Green River High School Boys Soccer Team’s final home games didn’t end with a continuation of their winning streak, but Saturday’s senior recognition game against Natrona let the soon-to graduate players leave Wolves Stadium with pride and a 4-1 win.

The Wolves have a 4-2 conference record.

The previous day’s game against Kelly Walsh, played on a cold and windy afternoon, resulted in a 3-1 loss against the Trojans.

“After that game, the boys did some self-evaluation and knew what they had to improve,” head coach Jorge Salcedo said.

The win against Natrona Saturday was attributed to the team making improvements on areas where they fell short with Kelly Walsh.

“Everyone performed like they wanted to,” Salcedo said.

Salcedo said sophomore Axel Mackinnon has done a great job playing for the team recently, saying he shows up to play each game the Wolves have. The remainder of the boys’ season will be on the road, with games in Star Valley and Jackson scheduled for tonight and Saturday respectively, followed by a game against the Rock Springs Tigers April 28. Salsedo doesn’t believe the change will impact the Wolves’ ability to play competitively against their opponents.

“These guys are really resilient,” Salcedo said. “We will play our same game.”

Salsedo said the Wolves are a team that can compete with any team in the 4A and praised the team for sticking with the game plans set out before each game.

The game in Rock Springs takes place at 5 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
