Student accepted into Air Force Academy

Green River High School senior Eric Clingenpeel recently accepted an appointment to the class of 2021 at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.

All cadets at the USAFA who graduate earn a bachelor’s degree and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Air Force.

The USAFA is one of the country’s finest officer training programs. Appointments to the USAFA are awarded to about 1,200 of the USAFA’s 9,700 applicants each year. Clingenpeel’s previous accomplishments indicated that he has the potential to meet the demands and challenges of the USAFA.

Clingenpeel will attend a six-week Cadet Basic Training in June of 2017. Following that, he will start his freshman year. Clingenpeel plans to study engineering and then hopes to attend Undergraduate Pilot Training in order to fly for the Air Force.

Clngenpeel will graduate from Green River High School in May. Clingenpeel, who maintains a 3.98 GPA, participated in cross country, wrestling, track and earned the rank of Eagle Scout in Boy Scout Troop 312. Clingenpeel also earned the vigil honor, through the Order of the Arrow, an organization with the Boy Scouts of America.
