Teams see mixed results at tourney

The Green River Lady Wolves Basketball team headed into the Flaming Gorge Classic with a three game winning streak.

However, the team came out of this past weekend's tournament 2-2.

On Thursday the Lady Wolves used the momentum of the previous wins to capture another victory. They came out on top of the Rawlins Outlaws, 58-50.

On Friday, the Lady Wolves had a taste of what it is like to be on the other side of the game. They lost both of their Friday games. The first loss was to Star Valley Lady Braves who controlled the game; and the scoreboard reflected that. Star Valley came out on top, 58-33.

The second loss on Friday came later in the day when the Lady Wolves took on Worland Lady Warriors. The Lady Warriors came out on top with a 10-point lead, 56-46.

On Saturday the Lady Wolves once again became the winning team in a close game against the Pinedale Wranglers. The Lady Wolves squeaked by with another win, 46-43.

For the boys team, they struggled with three of the teams they were pitted against, ending the weekend with a single victory. The boys defeated Pinedale 54-45 on Thursday, but fell to the team from Grace, Idaho 75-65 in overtime action. Friday, the team was defeated by a squad from Layton Utah 72-59. They ended the tournament with a loss from the Rawlins Outlaws Saturday, ending with a score of 65-54

With the holiday break, the teams will not have any games until Jan. 5-7, when they travel to Cheyenne to play in the Cheyenne Invite.
