Tigers defeat Wolves Thurs.

Thursday night was not a good night for either of the varsity basketball teams from Green River High School.

Both teams traveled to Rock Springs and faced very strong Tigers squads.

For the Lady Wolves, their 48-28 defeat would impact the team's confidence, according to head coach Rick Carroll.

"It was a tough game. They started poorly and took a hit in their confidence," Carroll said.

Carroll said the team is made up of great basketball players and can play with better than they did in Rock Springs, but said when things don't go well for a team, its performance can suffer.

Carroll said he and the Lady Wolves are reviewing film of their past games to find where their problems start and what can be done to prevent those problems in the future. He also continues working on shooting with the girls and talking with them to help work through the loss.

During that game, Emily White lead in scoring with nine points and lead in rebounding with five rebounds. Taylor Stoeger scored eight points and had five steals.

Despite coming out to a great first half, the Wolves would struggle against an increasing point deficit from a fierce Tigers offense. Head coach Laurie Ivie said the boys have struggled with carrying their momentum into the second half of their games all season long and started the fourth quarter with a 20-point deficit.

"We were hoping the momentum would carry into the third quarter," Ivie said. "However, we were outscored 18-6 in the third."

Ivie said Cameron Morris continues to improve his game. He is ranked fifth in the 4A conference in assists and leads the conference in steals. He scored 15 points during the game. Morris, along with four other Wolves, hit three-point shots during the game. They were Chase Stoeger, Jake Angelovich, Gavin Heiser and James Bunderman.

The teams will take on Natrona and Kelly Walsh this weekend. Ivie said she expects Natrona to play a similar game to Rock Springs, expecting the team to press throughout the game.
