Deadly Ghosts busted!

Bombshells edge out Casper at home bout

The Bittersweet Bombshells busted Casper's Deadly Ghosts on Saturday. The score was Bombshells 119 to 114 Ghosts, a very close game in roller derby.

The bout was neck and neck, back and forth. The Ghosts put up a good fight against the Bombshells, especially considering their smaller roster number, eight derby girls, compared to the Bombshells' 12 for the bout. Players from two other Wyoming teams played for the Ghosts' bout against the Bombshells to help even out the numbers.

"They had to borrow players from other teams. It's harder to play with girls you've never played with before," Bombshell Janice Grover-Roosa said. "We're really proud of them."

The Ghosts appointed two most valuable players from the Bombshells for the bout. Every bout, each team chooses one mvp jammer and mvp blocker from the opposing team. Bombshell Janice Grover-Roosa was appointed the mvp jammer of the bout and Shari Kumer as the mvp blocker.

"It's a rad award. It's nice the other team showed me that respect," Bombshell Shari Kumer said. "They're a tough team. They worked really hard and we had to work hard as a team to get the win."

This was the last home bout of the season for the Bombshells. To catch the action next season, see the Bombshells next home bout at 6 p.m., Sept. 12, at the Rock Springs Recreation Center.
