Businesses supply goods at event

High school-aged competitors aren’t the only people to have flocked to the Carl T. Williams Shooting Range this week.

A couple of hard-working entrepreneurs set up booths to provide food and drink to hungry shooters and their families.

Alicia Rubeck, owner of the Fish Bowl, said the restaurant made a good choice when they decided to serve food at the shooting practice Monday.

“It’s been good for us,” she said.

Selling pulled pork, baked beans, hamburgers, hot dogs and other sandwiches, The Fish Bowl’s tent was a popular stop for competitors and their families. Rubeck said the restaurant was approached about hosting a tent at the shooting range while signing up for a booth at Flaming Gorge Days. She said the city has shown them a lot of support as well.

A second business catering to the competitors at the shooting range was Taco Time. Kena Brown, the seasonal manager for Taco Time’s mobile food trailer, said she sold a lot of drinks during the hot Monday afternoon.

She expected more food to be sold during the actual competition Tuesday. The most popular drinks sold Monday were lemonade and sweet tea.
