Busy week: Wolves track and field strong

Another week, another solid performance for the Green River High School track team.

The Wolves track team put up solid numbers once again at a meet in Star Valley and Tiger Trials in Orem, Utah.

"The kids performed really well. We had a lot of season and personal bests and that's all you can ask for," head coach Steve Boyd said.

Green River once again had a strong throwing from the throwing events in Utah, with Emily White winning the discus and shot put and Dylan Rust finishing first in the discus.

In Star Valley, Holly Huber finished first in the 110 hurdles, and Andri Dewey placed first in the 400 meters. Junior Tyler Vendetti finished first in the long jump.

Boyd said most of the team will travel tomorrow to a meet in Pinedale and that seven have qualified for the annual Wyoming Classic in Casper.

The Wyoming Classic takes the top eight qualifiers from around the state in laned events and the top 10 in distance and field events.

On the boys side, Vendetti has qualified in the 300-meter hurdles and triple jump, Rust has qualified in both throwing events, and Braden Reichl has qualified in the 1600 meters.

The Wolves will also be taking four girls to the prestigious meet. Huber has qualified in the 110 hurdles, White has qualified in the discus, Dewey has a qualifying mark in the 400 meters and Josie Givens has qualified in both the 800 and 1600 meters.
