Vendetti shines at Laramie Shine Indoor track meet

The Green River High School track team shined in two different states last weekend.

The Wolves split into two teams with some athletes attending the Utah Distance Challenge in at the Olympic Oval in Kearns, Utah, and others competing at the Laramie Shine Indoor Meet.

At the meet in Laramie, Green River was led by a strong performance from junior standout Tyler Vendetti.

Head coach Steve Boyd said Vendetti finished first in the triple jump, second in the long jump, and was fifth in the 55 meter hurdles. He also finished 11th in the 55 meter dash.

Other top finishers for Green River at the meet included Holly Huber with a second place finish in the 55 meter hurdles and Eliza Morin who took third place in the high jump.

Senior Matt Medina placed eight in the shot put.

Junior Josie Givens finished 15th out of 187 runners in the 1600 meters.

Boyd said her time was less than 2.5 seconds off the outdoor school record. Givens finished 14th in the 400 meters.

Cheyenne McMichael finished 14th in the 3200 meters.
