Reminder: Stop for buses

A few people in town are learning the hard way why its not a good idea to pass a school bus with flashing lights.

According to reports from the Green River Police Department, multiple residents have been cited for passing a stopped school bus, a fine that according to the Green River Municipal Court, is levied at $225.

Buses have security cameras positioned on the outside of the vehicle and often record drivers who pass by a stopped bus. Det. Luke Benson with the Green River Police Department said during investigations, video taken from buses is used to identify drivers and eventually cite them.

According to a few reports released by the GRPD, officers have responded to the Sweetwater County School District No.2 Bus Barn to respond to bus passing reports.
