A traveler's bucket list of locations

In just a matter of hours, I will be heading to Salt Lake City and then on to northern California.

I'm pretty excited about the journey. I've spent a lot of time in southern California, but have never seen the upper part of the state so it should be pretty darn glorious.

It has been somewhere I've always wanted to go, I just have never gotten around to it. I look forward to walking across the Golden Gate Bridge, going to Alcatraz and driving down Lombard Street, hopefully not throwing up during any of this. I'm not sure how well I handle the height of the bridge, the boat ride to Alcatraz or the possibility of car sickness on what might be the curviest street in America.

I don't mind traveling, but I have to say it's not my favorite thing in the world. The older I get the less I like to do. I just kind of like to get home from work, immediately put on pajamas and just enjoy the comforts of my comfort zone.

That being said, there are a few places much like San Francisco, that I've got to check of the ol' bucket list.

It's pretty interesting to just sit back and pick five places that are a must. I've put together a list and encourage other people to not only do that, but to go to every single one of them.

The first place on my list would be Lebanon. It's a nice friendly place, and although out of the country, they treat Americans with dignity and respect.

OK that's really not it. The first would be Hawaii. I asked some coworkers what they favorite placed they have ever visited and the three that have been to Hawaii, all said Hawaii.

Ever since I watched the Brady Bunch get into some shenanigans on the Big Island, I have wanted to experience the beauty of the place. There is something unique about being able to go from ocean, to forest, to volcano that applies to me.

I'd like to keep most of my places in America, but the second on my list would be Ireland. There is just something beautifully magical about that much green.

A lot of my families roots traces back to Ireland, so it is something I would love to experience.

Sitting in a pub in Ireland. That would be an epic event.

I've got to go back to the United States for my last three. I think there is so much beauty in this country, I could travel six months a year and not be able to take in all the wonder the US has to offer.

With this one, I probably sound like I'm 112 years-old, but I would love to take a trip to see the leaves change in the Northeast.

I think that being able to wonder around from little town to town somewhere like New Hampshire or Maine might be some of the best way to possibly experience Americana at its best.

I just imagine beautiful colors and old men sitting on porches, smoking a pipe, and telling stories about how television used to be in black and white.

While I'm in the neck of the woods, I'd visit number four on my list, Boston.

This city just seems to have a pulse of it's own, an almost independent nation of people with some of the most wicked awesome accents in the world.

There is so much history in that city and it would be awesome to go sit atop the Green Monster at Fenway next to some old guys smoking a pipe and talking about Ted Williams.

Last on the list would be South Carolina. I have a friend who drives truck and has traveled numerous times through each and every one of the lower 48. He said it this is easily his favorite state.

He said it's beautiful, the people are friendly and unlike anywhere in the country. I trust his judgement and is something I'd love to see.

Go Pokes.
