    Green River will soon be without a garbage landfill. Green River’s landfill will close in 2017, but not before the city’s garbage transfer station is built by late 2016.     The city of Green River will apply for a loan through the state’s revolving fund program to pay for design work on a planned wastewater treatment facility. The loan application, approved by the City Council last night, will total $1.2 million. Another $1.2 million grant application was approved a month ago for the same project.   • County seeks $3 million grant for fairgrounds

    A $3 million grant will result in improvements to the Sweetwater County Events Complex if it’s approved by state officials. The Sweetwater County commissioners approved a request to apply for a grant aimed to improving infrastructure at the events complex to allow the complex to host larger events drawing between 8,000-12,000 attendees.     The Green River Police Department responded to a number of calls throughout the last week, including: Officers issued a traffic warning for speeding on East Flaming Gorge Way. Officers were dispatched to an alarm on Maple Circle. While traveling to the address, officers were advised a proper alarm code was received for the residence, the property was checked and everything appeared OK.
