  • Council approves permits for 'Buck N Badass' event

    After being the subject of much discussion during the last City Council meeting, the open container permit and catering permit for an event by Badass Brews and the Buck N Bar were approved during Tuesday night’s meeting. The city council raised questions about the permits, which were for an event originally called “Too Broke for Sturgis,” at the July 18 meeting.     Mike Bond was sworn in as a new Green River Police Department officer at City Hall on Monday morning. Bond is from Rock Springs and is currently a Staff Sergeant for the Wyoming National Guard. Green River City Administrator Reed Clevenger did the oath of office, while GRPD Captain Janet Kauchich presented Mike with his badge, #117.   • BLM seeks public input on Sweetwater Carbon Dioxide Sequestration Proposal

    The Bureau of Land Management Kemmerer Field Office is seeking public comment on a right-of-way for the proposed Sweetwater Carbon Storage Hub CO2 Sequestration project. If approved, Pond Field, LLC would sequester carbon dioxide (CO2) in up to 44,570 acres of sub-surface federal pore space in Uinta, Sweetwater and Lincoln counties. This proposal to permanently store carbon in underground rock formations will reduce atmospheric carbon.     Raymond Lewis Pecolar, 84, passed away Friday, July 14, 2023 at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a life-long resident of Rock Springs, Wyoming. He died following a lengthy illness. Mr. Pecolar was born August 7, 1938 in Rock Springs; the son of Raymond Pecolar and Annie Lewis.
