  • Woman charged with embezzlement, forgery

    A Rock Springs woman faces more than a dozen felony charges stemming from a Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office embezzlement investigation had her initial appearance in court on Friday. Janette Marie Klapel, 33, was arrested Thursday by county detectives. She is charged with 15 counts of felony-grade theft and forgery. As described in court documents, Klapel began employment with No Bull Construction as a bookkeeper in September, 2013, when her name was Janette Olds.     A Green River Police officer was placed on administrative leave, after he was indicted for a first-degree murder charge. Last Wednesday, Feb. 3, Jacob Anglesey, 34, appeared in the Third District Court of Judge Nena James in front of a grand jury. The jury convened to determine whether or not there was enough probable cause to charge Anglesey for first-degree murder, which stemmed from the 2009 death of Konnor Allen, a 2-year-old boy.     The Green River City Council rejected a bid for the city’s electrical maintenance at Tuesday’s meeting. The city’s previous electrical contract agreement is now expired. The bid proposed by Mountain West Electrical Inc. was 50-61 percent higher than the previous city electrical contracts.     The residents of Granger are making use of the community building in their town. The building, originally the town’s school building, was the site of a major renovation project on the building’s main floor, which now houses the Sweetwater County Library System’s Granger branch.
